Travels - Macau 2007
Macao meravigilao!
Arrival date: 3
February 2007
Macau or Macao ,
is a Portuguese colony, a very tiny country ,
I believe around 15 square miles, it holds some government
buildings of China , many casinos , the 10th tallest tower in the world and
the highest bungee jumping in the world (233mt). The bungee thing really
grabbed my attention but i was discouraged by the prohibitive price (over
120 us$) and because I wanted to make great video out of it but i was in
need of 2 cameras : one pasted on my helmet or around my hand to record the
fall and the other one stable on the jump platform to record the time I jump. So
I'll save the big event for the next time , when i can be properly set up.
Additionally the weather was not that good , it was quite cold.

Macau symbol of the city__In the background the famous macao tower 233mt
You
cant imagine how much time I had to spend to find out the meaning of this
monument as nobody seemed to know !! The stratospheric ignorance of those
people really upset me: there were citizens owning shops and restaurants
just in front of the statue , there were police officers and security guards
around , but nobody was able give me the answer! They were working in the
same place at 10mt from the statue doing the same damn thing every fucking
day of their miserable life , and it never came crossed their dick head
wondering what it could have
been the meaning of those figures...not even the curiosity...fucking
nothing, blank. So in the end, I had to
go to the tourism office information centre to discover the secret : It's Macau's symbol of friendship between the portoguese and the chinese (as
you can see in the photo , the man, a portoguese
colonizer, is donating a flower to a chinese lady) .
Nice and very romantic idea by the way.
As
you can see even the signs are in two languages , portoguese and
chinese
