Travels - Colombia

Back Back to Travels main

Arrived:   Monday 05 September 2005
Trips done:  Bogotà, Girardot, Santa Marta
Visa: 30+30 days
Intro: Ok, first of all I must deny the common say that Colombia is the land of the drug, that all its people are involved in drugs or illegal activities, that all the tourists who are traveling to Colombia are seeking drugs and so forward...It is just big bullshit: for instance, the majority of the locals never tried cocaine not even once in their life. The only dumb asses are those fucking tourists entering colombia attracted by tasting the purest drug in the world which is also a big bullshit because the purest stuff comes from Peru and Bolivia. Anyway fuck all those crap about drugs. Local people in colombia, do less drugs than in europe or usa. So fuck off with your cliché.

Updates:

22/09/05 Today i met new friends on the beach (Andre and Pilar if you guys are reading me I send you a big hug and kiss) we spent a few nights going out to clubs, drinking and playing at the beach! We had a special time together!

20/09/05 Tomorrow I'm going in a National Natural Park called "Arecife" or something...they told me I will find the best beaches of Colombia. I'm very curious about this...In the meanwhile I really don't know where to go as next trip...the problem is that the flight tickets are so damn expensive...I should go to Venezuela in November, so It seems I'm having a gap of 1 month in which I don't know where to lay my ass.

19/09/05 Equatorial rains here... I went to a few beaches around here and I'm very disappointed about them. I thought to find this coast of the Caribbean sea more "Caribbean"...you know what I mean...but the beaches are so dirty, with plastic bags and a lot of trash all around, the sand is just soil and not the real sand, with a brown color and the smell of shit and  the water is very contaminated besides I haven't seen fishes around. I was wondering how they can call it "PLAYA BLANCA!!!!!" Shame on you!

18/09/05 Moving to Santa Marta

15/09/05 Today I have to go back to Bogota for 2 reasons: 1) I have to wait for the package coming from the TV-producer and 2) cause I will have to renew my visa: I have about 15 days left and I think it is not enough for to visit all the places I was planning to go to...I only hope that the immigration office will extend my visa without giving me trouble and without charging me other costs.

11/09/05 The weather is wonderful: it never rains, it is always hot, even during the night; yesterday night I slept on the hammock. I go to search woods, I swim, I run every morning; I wake up at 7 o'clock and I go to bed early. I make the fire every night and I cook my dinner over there: meat or fish and barbecued bananas The local people are simple and friendly. The crime is like inexistent. The life is almost perfect....but there is always a "but"...find it out in the next news...

08/09/05 I'm thinking of staying at this place for to work on my personal book/diary as it is very quiet besides in the meanwhile I can get a very healthy life style out of my room. The only problem is that I've got only 30 days visa...I know it should not be a problem extend it but I didn't check it out yet. A secondary problem is that the first internet-cafè is at more than 10km far from the house.

07/09/05 Today I went to town searching for a digital camera, but the price is too high (about the double compared to Europe) so I think I'll not buy it and unfortunately I cannot make cool videos even in this country; I hope to meet someone with the digital camera... Unless you readers want to make some donations...just click donate from the main menu!

06/09/05 Today I found a Cd which contains some pictures of the house, I'll post them here while I'll search for a decent camera to buy...

05/09/05  Arrived safely, the city of Bogota is located at 2600mt and it is quite cold, even if less than Peru. Bogota is a very green city and is not true that it is dangerous. in fact it is very very quiet.  This time I was lucky: the lady named Gina who offered me the accommodation in Bogota, after fetching me at the airport ,she brought me around the city but she understood I was sick and tired of big cities and cold weather, so after thinking a few minutes she told me that she could send me in another place giving me these details:  she owns a villa in the forest in a place called Flantes, not far from the small town of Girardoit : the house is huge and there is a swimming pool, a big garden, palm trees, flowers, chickens I don't know what else, plus she has two horses that I can ride and she even own a small lake rich of fishes. "...the only problem is that you have to go there alone cause I have to work, but don't worry, there are 2 domestics to take care of you...you can go there and use the house whenever you want" she said! So I replied: "OKEY IMMEDIATELY!!!" The morning later, I was chilling out with a coconut in the jacuzzi. The house is new and still under construction/decoration.

Bogota Photogallery:

Andrea's family, have been very very lovely with me, especially her mother who treated me better than a son. She also taught me something very useful, she's a graphic designer, so she gave me some good lessons of Photoshop! << Andre' , Javier and me celebrating with a colombian cake in Maria Paula house.

>> Javier and me , my best friend in Colombia, he contributed for the video "Noble scopes for begging" offering a nice digital camera for the shooting and also his good talent on handling the footage. In the picture we are celebrating the success of the video with a colombian beer : BRAVA , the strongest (6.5°) and the cheapest. One of those beers was bought with the money collected during the video!

<< Alan Rooster waiting for the train...

>> Me with 2 policemen : in Colombia the standard uniform for police officers is the army outfit and f*** big rifles!!! Yes they're still in war status almost everywhere in the country: there are 3 factions fighting at the moment: paramilitary, terrorists and police.

Me and my love Choco! Andrea's dog who I fell in love with. We had so many adventures together :) In this picture, we just got back from a trip up to a mountain where he helped me to discover huge mushrooms. It became so attached to me and me to it, that I was really sad when I left the country. I would love to have a dog like it , and I hope Andrea will take good care of it from my side too. A huge kiss and hug for Choco, I miss you :(

Girardoit photogallery:

>> Yes , I admit , I did jump from the roof in the swimming pool once...

<< My eating place , my homemade barbeque was fantastic , I was having breakfast ( grilled bananas) , lunch (grilled vegetables) , and dinner ( grilled meat).

Santa Marta photo gallery:

<< With friends on the beach, Pilar, me, Andrea, Veruzka and her daughter. Veruzkha hosted me in a quiet area of S.Marta with her daughter and her grandmother who was entertaining me with cool old colombian stories! They were preparing me very tasty and good meals and thanks to Veruzkha. I met a nice girl on the beach, but what a pity I just stayed there less than a week! Veruzkha is very friendly, funny with a singular personality , so I wish for her best luck to find her mr.right.
